The aim of the research in my lab is to increase the applied knowledge on microbial interactions with their environment, mainly edible mushrooms and other filamentous fungi, either improving their valuable functions or reducing their undesired ones. This includes studies on the mechanisms involved in growth, ecological adaptation, secondary metabolites production and enzymatic activities of beneficial fungi as well as search for new biological sources of antifungal compounds. Another field of study in the lab is water microbiology: improving methods of microbial detections and reducing water microbial and chemical contaminations.
Research Topics
Biotechnology and ecophysiology of edible mushrooms
Biodegradation activities of filamentous fungi
Hunting for new microbial sources of novel antifungal compounds
