Collaboration in Research
Over recent years, there has been increasing interest among MIGAL's researchers, as well as within science policy circles, in the notion of research collaboration. Numerous initiatives have been launched with the aim of developing collaboration among individual researchers - bringing them together in interdisciplinary research groups, with a new initiative to establish a Centre of Excellence, with the support of European partners. In addition, several MOU were signed with universities and entities in different parts of the world.
There have also been steps taken aimed at improving the links between MIGAL's scientists and industries in the Galilee through fostering research collaboration across sectors, as well as taking part in EU projects of Region of Knowledge (SWAM - where Water-tech clusters are involved) and Strategy projects (SAIL; GAL-EDGE; REFORM).
In addition, we develop during the year's collaborations with institutes in Israel and outside of Israel, mainly for collaborative research, but also for training people from abroad at MIGAL (both researchers at Post-Doc levels and students).
The collaboration-projects at MIGAL, with regions in Europe and elsewhere in the world, are designed to increase the impact, adoption of new and innovative directions and reach the highest research levels, and to further improve the support of services of the recently created R&D in the Galilee. This is achieved by an extension of the research activities; by identifying and addressing the specific needs of new scientific communities, and by establishing new collaborative projects.
Collaborations with industries and companies
In MIGAL we decided to upgrade the degree of introducing innovation and entrepreneurship into the region. We are now in the process of establishing a Galilee regional infrastructure by involving industry and the academia (R&D institutes) in a variety of joint projects.
We signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Chile's University of the Frontier and with La Rioja region in Spain.
